5 pm – 9 pm

Alain mall-Breast Cancer  

This is the first day of volunteering for us. We start volunteering in Alain mall under the title of Breast Cancer. There are many events there and awareness campaigns for the risk of breast cancer and how to avoid it. We start our volunteering by preparing the seats for the public and then we prepared the stage to start the events. After that we start collecting donation for Association “Friends of Cancer Patients” to give the community more information about this association. After that the events started by making many activities in the stage like dancing and fashion show. Also there was arts workshop for the children. In this time we only monitor the events and help the community to take their places and answer some of there question. Before the events finish we distributed some sweets and small gifts from TAKATOOF to the participant in the events.

Ex: this project will help the students of Al Hosan School to develop their IT skills 

 . We hope to help people who are most in need of support and become active in the community, also we want to take experience from other people that will help us in the future.

 5.    Time/ schedule: students will volunteer for how many hours / week? Days?  

 .  The volunteer will start in 19 October to 27 November

  . It will be 4 hours a week and it may be increase depending on the programs

 . It will be in different places that are because of the programs that TAKATOF make it.   

 6.    To be successful what need to be done?

Ex: In the end, students must be able to type 20wpm English typing. 

 .  We should be on time and have a motivation for what we do in the volunteer place to be more active.

 . Making sure we know the organization missions and goals.

7.    What are the Benefits to the participants? (Both volunteers and recipients)

 . People volunteer for lots of different reasons, the most one is the experience that it will help us to know how we can deal with other people in the community, also to find new interests and learn new skills, and most of all feel good about making a difference.

8. Any potential problems you see arising?

 . The only one problem we have that we are not able to volunteer in our free time, TAKATOF make the program and we should be able to attend in that time.

What is Takatof?

-         Takatof  Programmed for Social Volunteering is a nationwide volunteering initiative in UAE

Which year did start? And who started it?

-      Takatof started in 2005; it started by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan. 

What volunteer work have they done?

-      The 12 volunteers traveled to the working class community of Sea Bright area in New Jersey to rebuild the Morris family home that was completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy

How can you help?

-       Provide more personal attention to the needs of others.

-      Help an organization is more responsive to the needs and interests of the community that they serve.

-      Participate in opportunities for educational and social volunteering activities that would not be possible otherwise.
